First Aid Training Courses


All of our First Aid courses are accredited by Ofqual and presented in association with the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), which ensures your qualification is recognised nationwide.

We offer  variety of First Aid courses including:

  • RLSS Emergency First Aid at Work (3 day courses, Refreshers, and 1 day courses available)
  • RLSS UK Paediatric First Aid (1 or 2 day courses available)





Emergency First Aid at Work covers a range of CPR and first aid skills.  The following topics will be included during the course:

• Roles and responsibilities of First Aiders

• Reporting of accidents

• Contents of first aid kit

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• Bleeding, choking and shock

• Treatment of minor injuries.

Emergency First Aid at Work Prerequsites

- Candidates must be 16 years of age at the time of taking the assessment.

- Due to Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) legislation, you are required to bring a form of identification with you on the first day of the course.

You must be registered for a free RLSS UK Society Number and an account with the RLSS prior to attending all RLSS UK courses. To register please go to https://rlssuk.tahdah.me/account/registernew 

If you have attended a RLSS UK course previously you will have an existing society number on your certificate (8-digit number beginning with a ‘3’).

First Aid at Work 2 Day Refresher acts as a refresher to the full 3 day course and covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills. This course must be taken prior to qualification expiry date.  This course will cover the following first aid topics:

• Roles and responsibilities of first aiders

• Reporting of accidents

• Contents of first aid kit

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• Choking • Strains, sprains and bleeding

• Recognition of heart attacks, strokes and seizures

• Treatment of minor injuries

This qualification is valid for three years from the date of assessment.

First Aid at Work 2 Day Refresher Prerequisites

- Candidates must be 16 years of age at the time of taking the assessment.

- Due to Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) legislation you are required to bring a form of identification with you on the first day of the course.

Assessments will take place on the last day of the course.

You must be registered for a free RLSS UK Society Number and an account with the RLSS prior to attending all RLSS UK courses. To register please go to https://rlssuk.tahdah.me/account/registernew

Terms and condition

Cancellations and refunds

  1. For cancellations made 28 days prior to the start of the course; a refund will be given minus, £35 admin fee
  2. For cancellations made 14-27 days prior to the start of the course 50% of the course fee will be refunded.
  3. For cancellations made within 13 days of the course starting no refund will be given.
  4. In the event of Edinburgh Leisure cancelling a course; a full refund will be given. Edinburgh Leisure reserves the right to cancel a course depending upon numbers booked and cannot be held responsible for any loss of earnings, holiday entitlement or expenses incurred.
  5. Cancellations must be received in writing.

 Course standards of behaviour

  1. All course candidates must behave in a way that is not disruptive to other candidates, the course tutor and members of the Edinburgh Leisure staff.
  2. Any behaviour which is deemed disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate could result in the individual being removed from the course.
  3. Any candidate who does not meet the pre-requisites of the course on day one may be unable to continue and complete the course. Should this occur no refunds will be given.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills related to children. The candidate will learn how to apply emergency first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses.  The following topics will be included during the course:

• Understanding the role of the paediatric first aider

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for an infant and child (CPR)

• Assessing an emergency situation and acting safely and effectively

• Bleeding, choking and shock

• First aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally.

 This qualification is valid for three years from the date of assessment.

This comprehensive course covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills related to children and infants.  This course also teaches the candidate how to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses and includes the Paediatric Emergency First Aid syllabus.   This qualification is valid for three years from the date of assessment.

This course will cover the following topics:

• Roles and responsibilities of paediatric first aiders

• Reporting of accidents

• Contents of first aid kit

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for an infant and child

• Bleeding, choking and shock

• Treatment of minor injuries

• Recognition and treatment of sickle cell anaemia, diabetes and meningitis.

 Paediatric First Aid Prerequisites 

- Candidates must be 16 years of age at the time of taking the assessment.

- Due to Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) legislation, you are required to bring a form of identification with you on the first day of the course.

 Assessment will take place throughout the course.
