It's a Game Changer: Celebrating 30 Years of National Lottery Funding and its impact on Edinburgh Leisure
Thanks to National Lottery players, who raise an incredible £30 million each week for good causes, Edinburgh Leisure has been able to achieve remarkable milestones through various funding from sportscotland. This support has been instrumental in developing world-class facilities, strengthening local communities, and boosting both professional and recreational sports.
In 2024, the EICA Ratho received £100k for new bouldering facilities, enhancing its reputation as a premier climbing destination. The new Meadowbank Sports Centre, which opened in 2022, benefited from a whopping £5 million, providing state-of-the-art amenities for athletes and the community alike.
Previous projects supported by National Lottery funding include:
- A slab wall at EICA Ratho (2021)
- Outdoor tennis courts at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre (2018)
- A Gymnastics sprung floor at Gracemount Leisure Centre (2016)
- Funding towards the refurbishment of the Royal Commonwealth Pool (2012)
These contributions have not only improved facilities but have also fostered a sense of community and encouraged more people to participate in sports and physical activities. The impact of this funding is truly a game changer for Edinburgh Leisure and the people it serves.
As we celebrate 30 years of the National Lottery, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the players and supporters who have made these achievements possible. Your contributions are making a real difference in our community, and we look forward to many more years of growth and success.
