Leaving a Gift in your Will
Gifts in wills help to change people’s lives. If you are considering leaving a gift in your will to Edinburgh Leisure, thank you. Any gift, large or small, makes a real difference.
Why leave a gift in your will?
Having a will ensures that the individuals and causes you care about are provided for after you are gone. Without a will, your estate is distributed according to the laws of intestacy.
After providing for your loved ones, many people choose to leave something in their will to a charity or charities of their choice. This allows you to ensure the causes important to you benefit from your estate.
Leaving a gift to Edinburgh Leisure supports the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of local people through our Active Communities programme. Each year, this programme uses physical activity to positively impact over 12,500 people affected by health conditions, disabilities, inequality, and poverty.
What type of gifts can I have?
- Residuary – A residuary gift is a percentage of your estate once any taxes and costs have been subtracted.
- Pecuniary – A pecuniary gift is a fixed sum of money left in a will to be given to a specific person, charity, or organisation. It’s also known as a cash gift.
- Specific – A specific gift is a particular item such as stocks and shares or an item of particular value to you.
