12.09.2023 ELIR00378 | Noise levels in the Drumbrae cycle studio I was recently in the cycle studio on the bike adjacent to the speaker on the right hand side. The noise level was unbearable and I was forced to move as I was concerned for my hearing. I considered that the noise level was above safe limits and was actually hurting my ear. In this location the speaker is only about 0.5m from your ear. Even today, I can still feel that my right ear has been exposed to excessive noise. I raised this issue with the instructor afterwards, however, I think the instructor is probably unaware of the impact of noise attenuation and I estimate that the noise levels for the instructor are approximately 18 decibels lower than I experienced adjacent to the speaker. I believe there is a genuine risk of customers being exposed to noise levels which could adversely impact their hearing. I would be grateful if you could share the following. 1 A copy of the risk assessment for the cycle studio 2 Any assessment of noise levels undertaken in the cycle studio 3 Any guidance provided to instructors on noise levels I do not wish to stop people enjoying their classes, however, I am concerned that the current speaker/ bike arrangement is putting certain users at risk of excessive noise levels. | 02.10.2023 |

02.06.2023 ELIR00364 | Reference Material I am a 3D designer from Germany who specialises in recreating real-world locations in 3D. I am reaching out to you as I am currently working on a project to faithfully recreate the former Leith Waterworld building before it became Wonderworld Softplay. I have found that finding quality reference material for the old building is a challenge. Many sources have been lost over time or only offer too low a resolution to use effectively. Therefore, I am reaching out to you, hoping that you may have access to old blueprints, maps or archived photographs that may be of use. If you have any such reference material or information on where I might find it, I would greatly appreciate your assistance. The faithful reconstruction of the old building would be a valuable addition to my portfolio and may also be of interest to you in preserving memories of Leith Waterworld. Thank you in advance for your efforts. I am available to provide further information and look forward to your response. | 09.06.2023 |
01.06.2023 ELIR00363 | Asset Strategy The attached document (Asset Strategy) is a publicly available document on your FOI page. However, it is undated. From the content I surmise it may be from around 2009 but cannot be certain. Are you able confirm the date of this document? | 06.06.2023 |

16.05.2023 ELIR00360 | Edinburgh Leisure’s “cashless” policy. I am an Edinburgh Rate Payer. Therefore, I am one of the people who has ultimately funded the premises operated by Edinburgh Leisure. I have the following questions regarding ALL of the facilities operated by Edinburgh Leisure: 1. When did Edinburgh Leisure implement ‘cashless’? 2. Was a risk assessment done prior to the decision being taken to assess the number of current and future users of the publicly-owned facilities who would be excluded or inconvenienced by the ‘cashless’ policy? – If not, why not? – If yes, please provide full details of the assessment, with particular emphasis on how members of the public already damaged by Covid could be further damaged by being excluded from using Edinburgh Leisure facilities due to the ‘cashless’ policy. 3. Please also confirm the amount paid for those service in that year. 9. 10.05.2023 ELIR00358 | Guidance, Noise Level and Barriers Under FOISA, I would be grateful for receipt of the following information: – a copy of any guidance give to teams and players using Edinburgh Leisure facilities at Queensferry High School regarding a) conduct and language and b) noise, either as part of a contract for use of the facilities or separately. – any guidance or relevant information on the noise level Edinburgh City Council’s EHOs (or similar officials) accept as being too loud for neighbouring houses as a result of leisure activity. I would specifically like to receive a decibel level used as measurement above all other information. – finally, I would like to know if Edinburgh Leisure or Edinburgh City Council has installed any acoustic barriers at any of its pitches since 2000. I am not asking for the specific detail of projects, but rather whether any acoustic barriers have been erected at or around pitches since their construction. I believe these requests are discrete and answerable within cost and time limits as presented. If this is not the case, please advise and assist on revising the request. | 05.05.2023 |

However, there is only open access to the summary. Would it be possible to obtain the full text to understand the details? | 10.03.2023 |
08.02.2023 ELIR00345 | Cafe Refresh Who are Cafe Refresh though? Are they a separate entity, legal or otherwise, or actually a part of Edinburgh Leisure? Do they have their own management? Is it possible for you to clarify please? You say it run by Cafe Refresh – suggesting a separate entity – but in reality it is certainly somewhat confusing who they are – staff have been seen wearing Edinburgh Leisure logo on tops and payment are always listed as taken by EICA Ratho. On the other hand, they don’t appear to be a registered company in their own right though so are some other form entity. You will appreciate I’m sure that it would not be appropriate to discuss with you at Edinburgh Leisure anything to do with Cafe Refresh if they are not actually part of Edinburgh Leisure. If Cafe Refresh are a separate entity then there must be a way of contacting them. Appreciate some clarification. | 15.02.2023 |
08.02.2023 ELIR00344 | Staffing Structure Hi, I’m interested in your staff management structure, particularly relating to the management of your golf courses. I intend to use this information to compare how the Trusts in each local authority area vary in their approach. In particular, do you have a single management team for all the different leisure area’s or do you take a similar approach to Fife in that the Golf Trust is separate entity from their Leisure Trust. | 15.02.2023 |
20.01.2023 ELIR00343 | Energy use at Glenogle Swimming pool I am currently working on a project for an Open University degree in Environmental Management & Technology. The project is part of a module on renewable energy, and the idea is to look for a local business or organisation, and prepare a feasibility report that illustrates how the organisation could move to renewable energy sources to provide its energy. I am therefore interested if it would be possible for someone to provide the details of the current annual energy consumption of Glenogle Swim Centre, and ideally with monthly figures, and a breakdown for gas and electricity use, (or any other fuel that may be in use). | 24.01.2023 |

10.01.2023 ELIR00341 | Warrender Update I have just asked about progress that has been made to date – this should not require a wait to provide an update, this information should be readily available, as it relates to work that should have already taken place. If no information is available, it would suggest no progress has been made, which would raise some serious concerns about the mismanagement of this project. As stated on your website, ‘The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 gives everyone a right of access to information held by Scottish public authorities’, so if you are unable or unwilling to provide this information I will simply have to use a freedom of information request, although that would reflect very poorly on the levels of transparency at a publicly-funded organisation regarding what should be a routine request. Hi there, could you please provide an update on the status of the Warrender Baths refurbishment? It has been over 12 months since you provided any update on your website, and it seems strange that more information has not been provided when what was supposed to be a 9-month closure has now become more than 2 years. | 16.01.2023 |
09.01.2023 ELIR00340 | Queensferry High School Q1. Queensferry High School leisure facility has implemented a no outdoor shoes policy within the changing areas, can you confirm what risk assessments were carried out to inform this policy and by who? Q2. Also, can you confirm the impact on fire escape strategy in the building? (Discarded shoes block the escape route). Q3. Can you also confirm the facilities in place to allow parents/guardians etc (who are not participating) to wash feet etc prior to exiting? Or another facility in place? are not participating) to wash feet etc prior to exiting? Or another facility in place? | 18.01.2023 |
