Martial Arts
Kids Judo and Martial Arts coached classes.
Judo is a dynamic combat sport that demands both physical competence and great mental discipline. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponents onto their backs. On the ground, it includes techniques that allow you to pin your opponent’s down to the ground and control them.
It helps promote the development of coordination, flexibility, self-confidence and fitness.
Classes are delivered by expert and qualified partner club coaches
Grading and classes
Kai Grades (P1 – P6)
If you are in P1 to P6 you will start off with Kai Grades.
You will have to learn different judo techniques, Japanese words and know various judo rules to achieve each of your belts but you don’t have to fight or win any judo contests.
Mon Grades (P7+ by invitation only)
Once you are in P7 or above you will move onto the Mon grades. There are 18 Mon grades, with six coloured belts, each grade is distinguished by coloured tabs on your belt.
Like the Kai grades you will have to know different judo techniques, words and rules. Once you have reached 10th Mon, you will have to put what you have learnt into practise against an opponent.
Judo grades give an indication of the level of the Judoka (judo player). From 1st Kai to 10th Dan, a judoka’s belt should reflect their knowledge and ability.
It is important to remember that judo is a pathway, on which the judoka is always learning and improving.
Grading is at the heart of Judo and has its roots in the origin of the sport, when used appropriately, it is a fantastic resource for developing a judoka.
