Our gyms provide you access to the high spec modern kit you’d expect such as treadmills with integrated TV screens and iPod docks, cross trainers, rowers and resistance machines and this is combined with some of the latest innovative exercise technology like ViPR, Power Plate, TRX and Kettlebells.

Young People in the Gym
If you're from S1 to age 15, you're still welcome in our gyms!
Come along to our NRG Zone sessions, where our expert instructors deliver a structured and safe induction course. With a minimum of five NRG Zone sessions under your belt, you can become accredited in our gyms to work out with minimal supervision.
If you aren't interested in getting your accreditation, that's not a problem. We offer Youth Circuit classes which you can drop into even if you don't have accreditation.

Get the most from your time in the gym
Work your way around our gym floor... there's no set order to what exercise you do first, everyone has preferences.
Cardiovascular, strengthening and flexibility exercises are important components to your workout however it's not about a ritual of ‘getting it done’, we can help you develop a sequence that you're most likely to stick with and enjoy.
Mix it up with a wide range of classic high specification equipment to the latest innovation. And if music gets you motivated then create your playlist, plug in your iPod/MP3 player and work to the rhythm - at some venues our equipment will also synch with your smartphone fitness apps.
Our membership options are designed to fit you whether you’re just starting out, a regular in the gym or if you want to add variety with fitness classes.
Our Gym Only membership gives you unlimited use of the gym facilities at your preferred venue or our Fitness membership offers unlimited access to gyms, pools and over 700 fitness classes across the city. You also automatically receive up to 20% off a wide range of other activities including racquet sports, golf and climbing.
If you're not ready to commit to a monthly membership, you can still save up to 20% with our Discount Card - and it allows you to book classes or courts in advance.

Gym-based class bookings and cancellations
Gym-based class bookings
You can book gym-based classes online, on the App, in person and by telephone. If gym-based classes are not included in your membership you must pay at the time of booking.
Online and App bookings open at 9pm. If gym-based classes are included in your membership or you are a Discount Card holder you can book 9 days in advance online and via the App and 8 days in advance in person or on the phone. If you are not a member or have a 10 for 8 card, you can book 8 days in advance online or via the App and 7 days in advance in person or on the phone.
You can book as many classes as you want however, we ask that you only book classes that you are likely to attend to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to book their favourite class.
No one can be in two places at once, so customers won't be able to book two classes that run at the same time.
If you book classes on the App you can add them to your calendar.
You can also check your bookings by clicking 'My bookings' on the App or you check 'upcoming bookings' on the online booking page.
Arriving in time for your class
We kindly ask customers who have booked into a class to swipe attendance at reception at least 10 minutes prior to the class starting, to allow enough time to get to the studio or pool and be ready for your class starting. Please note, if you do not swipe your attendance in this time frame, you may lose your space to a customer on the waiting list.
To avoid any incorrect No Show charges, please always use your membership card or fob to swipe in for classes.
When you swipe in for a class, our system will mark you as attended for any classes due to start within the next 3 hours. If you are attending a class more than 3 hours ahead of when you swipe in, please speak to a member of the reception team who will mark you as attended.
Gym-based class waiting lists
Our classes are very popular and fill up quickly. If the class is full, you can add yourself to the waiting list.
If gym-based classes are not included in your membership, there is no charge to book onto the waiting list, but if you then get booked into the class you will have to pay to confirm your place.
We send out emails at regular intervals throughout the day alerting you to any spaces that have become available in the classes that you’re on the waiting list for. The email will contain a link you can click to automatically book yourself into the class and pay if required. There is no priority position - everyone on the waiting list receives the email at the same time ensuring an equal chance of booking the space. First come, first booked!
If you are on a waiting list and decide that you no longer want a space in the class, please remove yourself from the waiting list.
Gym-based class cancellations and charges
Isn’t it frustrating when you can’t get a place in your favourite gym-based class? Even more so when you find out that a space was available because someone booked but didn’t turn up or cancelled at the very last minute! It may shock you to learn that across Edinburgh Leisure we have hundreds of such occurrences every week. That’s a lot of people missing out on the chance to enjoy the brilliant buzz of group exercise!
Please cancel more than 3 hours before the class is due to start to allow other customers the opportunity to gain a space in the class and you won’t be charged for cancelling your space.
If classes are included in your membership you can cancel your booking online, on our App, in person and by telephone. If you cancel your booking less than 3 hours before the class is due to start a Late Cancellation fee of £2 will be applied to your account. If you do not turn up for your booking or don’t swipe in at reception a No Show fee of £2 will be applied to your account. We will email you the day after the fee is applied with details on how to make the payment.
Payment for any fees must be made within 7 days. Anyone who has an unpaid fee on their account for more than 7 days won't be able to make any new bookings until the fee is paid.
If gym-based classes are not included in your membership, you must cancel your space in person or by telephone. If you cancel more than 3 hours before the class you will get a refund or have the option to move your booking to another class. If you cancel less than 3 hours before the class starts, no refund will be given.
