Edinburgh bouldering now open! New arena boulders at EICA Ratho
Edinburgh’s newest Olympic-standard bouldering walls have launched at Edinburgh International Climbing Arena!
These state-of-the-art walls complement the existing Bouldering Room next to the main arena, offering even more space to challenge and improve your bouldering skills.
Plus, get ready for our exciting new Bouldering Zone on Level 3, bringing even more climbing opportunities to EICA. Stay tuned for the opening date!
Even more bouldering with Bouldering Zone!
We’re taking bouldering to a new level – quite literally.
Located on Level 3, our brand-new Bouldering Zone will be a bright, inspiring space featuring newly designed walls, fresh routes, and plenty of opportunities to perfect your technique or simply enjoy climbing with others.
This exciting addition is part of our Bouldering Refurb Project, made possible by a grant from the sportscotland Sport Facilities Fund awarded last year.

Bouldering: access and booking requirements
- Member or pay-as-you-go:
If you have climbing included in your membership, you’re all set to jump in.
Returning pay as you go climbers, just check in and pay at reception first. - New to EICA:
If you’ve climbed before but haven’t been to EICA Ratho, you’ll need to complete a registration form and pass a quick competency check when you arrive. Click here for the Bouldering Registration form. - New to bouldering/climbing:
For beginners, our Bouldering Start Up session is a must. Book now to get started on your climbing journey!

Bouldering refurb project
Renovations at EICA began in June with a £100,000 grant from sportscotland’s Sport Facilities Fund. The upgrade introduces an Olympic-standard bouldering wall, designed by Rockcity, making EICA the only UK climbing center equipped for all three Olympic disciplines: lead climbing, speed climbing, and bouldering.
As the UK’s largest climbing gym and its sole international competition venue, the arena can now fully support events across all IFSC disciplines
