What is Ageing Well Walks?

Our Ageing Well walking groups provide a wide variety of choice in lengths, locations and grades ensuring you can find a walk that suits you.

We kindly ask you to take a moment to read and comprehend our Walk Agreement by clicking on this link before joining our walking group.

By participating with us, you are agreeing to abide by the terms outlined in the agreement, including wearing appropriate clothing and contributing £1. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for your understanding. 

Monday

Meadows Walk – 10.30am

The meeting point is outside the Café Refresh behind the East Meadows Play Park.

The meeting point is in the cul-de-sac behind the Tesco Superstore at Corstorphine in Gylemuir Road. This is accessible from the Tesco car park at the side of the building.

The meeting point is located at the benches close to the Edward VII statue. The walks utilise the North Edinburgh Cycle Network, which includes the Water of Leith and Hawthornvale paths.

Grade: 2 & 3 – walk splits into two groups, a moderate paced walk and a gentler paced walk

Walking Level Guide

To help you get the most benefit from your walk, we recommend that you aim to feel a little warmer, breathe a little harder, and increase your heart rate, but you should still be able to talk. 

Grade 1Grade 2Grade 3
Suitable for people who have not walked much before, are looking to be more active, or are returning from injury or illness.
They are up to 30 minutes on flat ground or gentle slopes with mainly firm surfaces and generally no steps.
Suitable for people who are looking to increase their activity levels. 
They are between 30 – 60 minutes and may include some moderate slopes, steps, and uneven surfaces.
Suitable for people looking for more challenging walks and increasing their level of physical activity.

Generally, 60 – 75 minutes in length and terrain could include earth and stone surfaces and may incorporate steeper slopes, steps, and uneven surfaces.
