Maximise your Gym Workout

Edinburgh Leisure operates 17 gyms across the city and for customers aged 16 or over there is no need to book, just drop in for your session.

While each venue is slightly different, whatever your aims in the gym, you can be sure to have everything you need with Edinburgh Leisure.

Cardio

Follow your own programme or join in a virtual session on the latest top of the range Life Fitness cardio kit including Treadmills & Cross Trainers. Additional kit such as Ski-Ergs, Rowers and Air Bikes are also available to enhance your workout

Weights and Resistance

Complete your full body workout on the strength kit including cable machines and functional kit such as Kettlebells and accessories, or use the Free Weight Areas equipped with racks, olympic bars & bumper plates, to further enhance your sessions

Junior Gym Visits

A standard gym session for customers under 16 years of age which must be pre-booked. Our junior visitors must have completed our NRG Zone accreditation before accessing the gym. Under 16s can book a gym visit online or via the app.

Customers aged 16 or over can attend a regular Gym session without the requirement to book.

Alongside your regular Gym Visit you can book a series of additional gym activities, classes or programmes to help you get the most out of your workouts with Edinburgh Leisure.

Gym Introduction

A 1:1 instructor-led introductory gym session for those who are new to Edinburgh Leisure or who want help to create a new training programme. During introduction sessions, the instructor will complete a health questionnaire and guide you through a programme of exercises, specifically designed for you, and discuss the best way for you to achieve your goals. These sessions require pre-booking.

Gym Review

Follow up instructor-led sessions to progress and refresh existing plans and routines. These can be booked at intervals to track your progress and help guide you on your journey to your health and fitness goals. Gym Review sessions take place after the initial 1:1 Gym Introduction session for those new to Edinburgh Leisure. These sessions require pre-booking.

Gym Blast

A full body work out to increase cardiovascular & muscular fitness and aid in fat burn by using a variety of gym kit and body weight exercises.

Cardio Blast

A high intensity cardiovascular based work out to increase heart and lung capacity by using a variety CV kit and body weight exercises.

Strength Blast

A high intensity resistance-based workout targeting all muscle groups to increase muscle conditioning, aerobic capacity, and sports performance.

Core Blast

A full body workout focusing on your core. This class is not only going to help you tone and expose your abs, but also work on your lower back, glutes and stability.

Fighting Fit

A boxing inspired high intensity workout using gloves and pads. Designed to burn fat, increase fitness, and have fun.

Gym Vitality

A class to help reduce aches & pains and increase performance. It’s a low intensity class geared towards improving flexibility & mobility across key muscle groups and joints.

Abs Class

A 30-minute conditioning class improving strength and stability of the entire core area.

Abs Blast Class:

15-minute conditioning class improving strength and stability of the entire core area.

Get up and Go

A 30-minute low to moderate intensity gym based class suitable for for beginners or older adults

Fit After 50

Strengthen your body, boost your confidence, and build community in our instructor led gym classes

Kettlebell Zone

A 30-minute workout, incorporating kettlebells to improve strength and endurance

Ladies Lifting

Learn the fundamentals of free weights exercises, safe technique and progressions to build your confidence in this area of training.
